Wegener, who is this man?
Trying to teach the world about continents man.
He’s a meteorologist not a geologist.
Can we believe him without a paleontologist?
Look at that dude, he ain’t cool.
Talking about Pangea, sounding like a fool.
That’s not the truth. We need some proof.
We highly doubt it, so be quiet about it! (DOC x8)
Wegener, not hearing what you said.
The evidence of fossils and mountains is dead.
Swing and a miss. We can’t believe this.
We are the scientists. Don’t mess with this.
Continental drift has got you lost!
Move out’ the way, Because we are the boss!
Now listen……., We’re going to tell you again,
Plate tectonics…., is bogus man! (DOC x8)

The scientific journey
Science is a slow process. New ideas are usually met with caution and doubt. Radically new ideas are often met with doubt and rejection. Wegener’s ideas were certainly doubted by almost the entire scientific community. While his model was alright–that the evidence of shape, mountains, climate and fossils–lined up, neither he nor anyone else could provide a mechanism by which continents could drift across the surface of the planet.
