2014 Spring Competition – App Competition

In collaboration with the newly minted TCU App Club, ideas for Apps of any sort are being solicited. An interest in learning/participating in App programming is a plus! Individuals interested in applying are encouraged to talk to Dr. Eric Simanek ( to craft an entry that does not compromise intellectual property as well as to obtain additional details about the entry process. Entries are due on April 4th.

Ideas arrive at the IdeaFactory through two primary conduits.  They are shaped through discussions with students, staff and/or faculty on an ad hoc basis (usually over coffee!), or they are entered in an IdeaFactory competition.  One competition is typically run every semester.  Each competition has a theme, although any idea submitted qualifies.  Finalists are chosen to present their ideas in an informal setting to a panel at the end of the term.  Qualifying winners meet with mentors in subsequent semester(s) to advance the idea to a prototype.

Competition forms are available by contacting IdeaFactory and include a short description of the effort and a disclosure of invention form.

Previous themes include:

2013 Fall Competition – Apps for Education

2013 Spring Competition – Open Competition

2012 Fall Competition – Science Education and Fashion Design

2012 Spring Competition – The Intersection of Science Education and Human Health
